Add some lemon to that green tea to make it healthier

Filed under:

If you're into sweeteners that aren't full of chemicals or calories, you have probably heard of agave nectar and stevia. While most of Western medical society speaks out against these healthy sweeteners, they're not always convenient in a pinch.

But one sweetener is -- citrus juice. In fact, I'll say that water with a few lemon wedges is a staple of what I drink with almost every meal. Water comes alive with some flavor if you squeeze some fresh lemon juice in it.

But lemon juice can be used to actually enhance tea as well, according to new research. It was found that citrus juices enable more of green tea's unique antioxidants to remain -- meaning that green tea can be better with lemon or lime juice that just being consumed alone.
